Reflection &
Human Value

Today you demonstrate what you know. Then we look ahead.

Handwritten Reflection

30 minutes. No notes, no AI, no references. Just what you know.

30:00

Write Your Demo

Answer the required question + choose 1 of 2. Handwritten, two sides of a page.

Required:

"Walk through your 5 Whys chain. At which 'why' did you find a design opportunity — something you could change about your environment or system rather than just 'try harder'?"

Choose 1 of 2:

Option A:

"On a scale of 1-10, how much progress did you actually make? Defend your rating with specific evidence. What would move you one point higher?"

Option B:

"Describe something you tried that didn't work. Why didn't it work? What did that failure teach you about your challenge or approach?"

AI-Facilitated Discussion

Swap papers. Your partner types up your answers, AI generates discussion questions, then you talk.

30:00

How It Works

  1. Swap papers with your partner
  2. Open the activitySprint 1 Demo Discussion
  3. Select the author's name from the dropdown (your partner — the person who wrote it)
  4. Type up their written answers into each question box
  5. AI generates discussion questions — use these to have a face-to-face conversation
  6. Summarize what you discussed, then download the JSON and upload to Canvas
  7. Switch roles — both of you lead a discussion exploring your partner's answers. Both of you will download and submit your own JSON file on Canvas to receive credit.

The partner typing is intentional — you're forced to read carefully before discussing.

From Self to Others

Sprint 1

You were the stakeholder. Complete knowledge. No interviews needed. You designed for yourself.

Sprint 2

You'll solve a problem for your partner. Incomplete knowledge. You'll need to communicate, listen, and adapt your design.

The hardest part of Sprint 2 isn't building. It's truly understanding the problem from another person's point of view.

Groups will be assigned before our next class meeting. Please expect an email from me.
